Editorial Services

*
My passion for storytelling extends beyond my own writing. With a specialisation in humorous, women's and commercial fiction, I collaborate with both traditional publishers and independent authors to develop and polish manuscripts.

Manuscript
Assessment
My Manuscript Assessment Service is for any writer wishing to receive kind, honest and actionable feedback on the big story elements of their early first draft.
I will read your work and carefully consider the structure, characters, pace, plot, voice and dialogue. You will be provided with an in-depth editorial report detailing what is and isn’t working and suggestions on how to resolve and improve.
Email or telephone follow-up is also included, (up to 30 mins)
The Manuscript Assessment does not include direct edits to your manuscript.
Developmental
Editing
During developmental editing, I will work scene by scene and leave feedback, suggestions, and questions via Microsoft Word track changes.
Developmental editing is ideal for any author wishing to receive a deep dive into the structure, characters, plot, voice, dialogue, style, pacing, characterisation and marketability of your manuscript. You will also receive a highly detailed editorial report.
While developmental edits do not focus on grammar and punctuation, they are crucial for addressing and resolving the “big picture” issues in your story.
A Developmental Edit also provides an opportunity to discuss the feedback I provide and gain further advice on your next steps during an hour-long phone call or email session with me.
Both a Manuscript Assessment and a Developmental Edit look at the big-picture elements of your manuscript.
They both also provide a writer with honest and actionable feedback.
However, during a developmental edit, I take a much deeper dive into the structure, characters, pace, plot, voice, dialogue and provide scene-by-scene feedback.
Ghost
Writing
My ghostwriting expertise is in humorous, women’s and commercial fiction. I am commissioned by traditional publishers and self-published authors to co-author or to inject comedy into existing manuscripts.
Due to my own writing commitments, I am not able to take on ghostwriting projects until 2026.

I am currently fully booked for all editorial projects until February 2026. However, if you are interested in my editorial services after this date, please complete the enquiry form below.
Enquire Now
If you are interested in finding out more about my editorial services please fill out the enquiry from. I will then reach out to you via email requesting a sample of your manuscript and some further information about your project and goals. Once this has been reviewed we can discuss pricing and timescales.

I am an Entry Level Member of the Chartered Institute of Editing and Proofreading (CIEP). This is a professional UK-based but international organisation for editors and proofreaders that promotes excellence in English language editing (formerly called the Society for Editors and Proofreaders (SfEP).
As a member of this organisation I have an obligation to abide by its code of practice:
The CIEP’s Professional Practice Code: Ensuring Editorial Excellence sets out the standards of professional conduct that CIEP members must meet. It aims to help members to maintain these standards and to have good professional relationships with clients (and with their employers if they work in-house). It emphasises that it is essential to have good communication between CIEP members and their clients, as well as clear briefing and agreement of terms.
The Code includes guidance on elements such as professional behaviour; standards for proofreading, editing and project management; and information on web editing, electronic file handling, email etiquette, confidentiality and computer security.
